The updates to the sign ordinance are intended to add greater clarity and direction to applicants seeking a sign permit in the City. What is a Sign Ordinance?
A sign ordinance is a set of regulations and rules established by local government authorities to control and manage the placement, size, design, and maintenance of signs in the community. The regulations help balance the interests of businesses and property owners with the need to preserve the visual character and safety of a community.

Timeline:
The current timeline for staff taking an updated sign ordinance to the City Council for approval includes one (1) study session to be conducted with the Planning Commission. This session is scheduled for Thursday, March 7 and will provide an opportunity for staff to outline the updates being recommended.
Following the study session, other meetings will be scheduled and posted on this website.

The City encourages public input on the proposed sign ordinance updates and should utilize the following methods to ensure your comments are received:
Sign Ordinance Survey - January 19, 2024, through February 22, 2024
Planning Commission Study Session- March 7, 2024
Planning Commission Hearing - March 21, 2024
Contact Staff - staff has set aside afternoon hours, January 19, 2024, through February 22, 2024, from Tuesday through Thursday between 1:00PM - 4:30PM to discuss the sign ordinance updates. Please make an appointment using the contact information below.
