Evolve Foster City into a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable community

I grew up in a highly diverse and inclusive community back on the East Coast that included individuals and families from all types of races, classes, etc. Since relocating to the Bay Area (specifically Foster City) in 2014, I've realize my family is missing out on a truly diverse community here. For example, days can go by in which I don't see even one Black person within Foster City. That's frustrating and to be frank, very embarrassing. My son's now 13, and he's mostly only around White and Asian students all day. I think to attract more types of people and families, we have to open our minds more to different housing types and push for more affordable housing. I really didn't want to write anything here, but I'm EXHAUSTED hearing people talk on and on about what 'the community' wants. Well, my family and I are positive and contributing members of OUR community, and we are absolutely for more housing, housing types, and affordable housing. As a long-term renter here in Foster City, I feel like my voice has been overshadowed by those who presume to speak for me - they don't. Thanks for the opportunity to share feedback so my voice is finally heard.
